The Russian Nina Zarina ran an almost unbelievable 53.72 kilometers to take the global victory for Switzerland.

With this event, the Wings for Life Foundation launched a running project to help raise funds for spinal cord research. The worldwide running event with over 120,000 starters is looking for the runner who can cover the furthest distance. The participants are stopped by the Catcher Car, which rolls up the field from behind as a moving finish line.

Russian celebrates global victory for Switzerland
For the first time since the event was held, victory in the women's global rankings came from Switzerland. The Russian Nina Zarina was able to put on a short sprint in front of the approaching catcher car and distance herself from the Brazilian runner Dominika Stelmach by a few meters. Nina Zarina ran 53.72 kilometers in Zug.
The global winner of this year's Wings for Life World Run was Ivan Motorin from Russia. In Switzerland, Francesco Mascherpa won the overall ranking.
