The Swiss winners of the 2014 Junior World Masters shone again this year, but were eliminated in a spectacular semi-final against Germany despite an outstanding performance. The FC Basel juniors won the first match against the French team FC Rueil Malmaison 1:0. FC Basel managed to equalize against the Russian team and then went on to the biggest triumph of the competition the following day with a draw against FC Golden Gate from the USA - the match against Senegal. With an impressive 10:0 victory, FC Basel qualified for the quarter-finals.
Exciting football thriller against Hertha BSC in Paris
The Swiss U13 team also won the quarter-final match against Colegio Salugi from Spain. However, the semi-final against Hertha BSC from Germany was a real football thriller. After FC Basel were 2-0 up in the first half, the team from Berlin scored a regular goal and were awarded a foul penalty in the final minute. With this goal, the German team saved themselves in a penalty decision, in which the FC Basel juniors were eliminated from the tournament with a missed goal despite an outstanding performance.
