In contrast to conventional Christmas markets, the Illuminarium does not rely on tradition, but on innovation and interaction. In collaboration with the initiators of the Zurich Christmas Village, the Zurich light artist collective Projektil is staging a magical world in familiar settings for the second time.
The team will be supported by the magical mythical creature Yuki and his friends. They will perform their own version of Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata in a separate area of the National Museum Zurich and inside the Museum der Kulturen in Basel, taking visitors on an audiovisual journey.
Snowfall, 3D winter wonderland and electric smart car
Also to be discovered in Zurich is the Smart EQ Fortwo in an oversized snow globe. Let yourself be enchanted by the snow flurries. The Illuminarium offers a "terribly spectacular light and music show with winter delicacies and Christmas treats". The festive 3D winter wonderland can be admired in Zurich every evening from 5 pm and in Basel from 6 pm - projected onto the facades of the inner courtyard of the National Museum Zurich and the Museum der Kulturen Basel.
