The trainees were responsible for the logistics, planning and organization of this project. Such a car has been part of the Skoda Academy tradition since 2014. Here, the students design a vehicle from the Czechs' model range according to their ideas with guidance from their instructors.

Selected details and smart ideas
They are supported by engineers and employees from the production, technical development and design departments. This year's result, the Skoda Mountiaq, is already the sixth car of its kind, following three convertibles, a coupé and an electric pickup with solar cells. Like its predecessors, it is full of useful features, lovingly selected details and clever ideas.

Off-road vehicle with everyday utility
This time, the youngsters set out to transform a standard Skoda Kodiaq as their term paper. The result was a spectacular pickup truck. It was designed to convey a sense of adventure and off-road driving, while at the same time combining the flair of a modern lifestyle vehicle with the everyday utility of a pickup truck. The focus was to be on excellent all-wheel drive and off-road capabilities, which included a front winch. Hence the name Mountiaq.

Hidden storage space under the cargo bed
After the design was finalized, the practical implementation began. Body and paint work as well as reinforcing the body. Then the apprentices removed the roof, constructed a rear wall for the driver's cab and rear and side windows. Finally, it was the turn of the loading area with a storage compartment hidden underneath. Widened doors, modified bumpers, running boards on the door sills and a completely redesigned rear end were the final touches to the bodywork. One of the biggest challenges for the trainees was the integration of a fully functional rear door.

Illuminated cargo area and radiator grille
Once the ground clearance had been increased, special off-road tires fitted and the interior given a homely feel, a whole host of creative ideas added the decisive i-points.
This includes, for example, the illumination of the Mountiaq. In addition to the illuminated cargo area, the radiator grille, the brand logo on the hood and the engine compartment are also illuminated.

Sound system with 320-watt speakers
Other visual highlights include the light bar on the roof. Inside, there is an integrated refrigerator and two walkie-talkies that come with the vehicle. The current cohort of trainees created a very special highlight by designing their own logo for Mountiaq: a car in front of a mountain silhouette. This is embroidered in orange into the backrests of the front seats.
And when young people are at work, a sophisticated sound system cannot be missing. They supplemented the 320-watt speakers with a 2000-watt amplifier and a 2000-watt subwoofer.
