For the first time, the Robo Drone Race will take place as part of the Drone Champions League. The flying machines will be flying at over 140 km/h over Lake Zurich. The race starts in Rapperswil-Jona.
Ultra fast. Ultra-spectacular. Ultra-modern. Until Sunday, October 14, 2018, things will be fast-paced in the canton of St. Gallen. The reason: The Drone Champions League (DCL) is coming to Switzerland for the first time and will show fans and spectators an exciting and extraordinary race over Lake Zurich in Rapperswil-Jona. One can look forward to a spectacle of a special kind.
It takes 1.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h
A racing quadcopter is very different from ordinary photography drones. It is built for extreme speed, agility and durability. Moreover, it is controlled directly by the pilot without GPS navigation or other software support. This allows acceleration to 100 km/h in 1.8 seconds. The top speed is over 140 km/h.
Action event for a young audience
President Simon Elsner of Rapperswil Lake Zurich Tourism: "We expect a young audience to be enthusiastic about the Lake Zurich region." Nicolas Hobi, Head of Marketing Seat, doubles down: "Last year, we successfully got involved in rowing and supported the SwissMocean in their crossing of the Atlantic. This year, we are sponsoring the Drone Racing Champions League, a trend sport in the e-sports sector that is becoming increasingly popular. It is important to us to be where our customers are. It's not for nothing that we are the brand with the average youngest customers." Find out what's on when and where on the website.
