Reinfried Marass: Fine Art Photography
WOMEN AND CARS The photographic art of Reinfried Marass is a real net find that the author came across by chance. The Viennese-born photographer actually prioritizes women. Cars are just accessories for him. How nice! And yet Reinfried Marass (in the gallery on the left) has a certain closeness to the automobile. He learned to be a mechanical engineer, called a workshop [...].
And yet Reinfried Marass (in the gallery on the left) has a certain closeness to the automobile. He trained as a mechanical engineer, owned a workshop and enjoyed tinkering with older cars before discovering his fascination for artistic photography.
Currently based in Steyr, the photographer has unlimited access to a fund of various models thanks to a nearby car dealership of a friend with classic cars (carcollection.at). Car models nota bene.
Work equipment is a Leica with a lens
Reinfried Marass takes digital photographs, but in a way that makes the photos appear analog. His working equipment: a Leica, a lens. Basta. He doesn't think much of frippery with eight different cameras and seventeen lenses.
His works can be ordered as prints (in different sizes), some are unlimited, but many are limited to only a few pieces. Definitely, he has made it a point never to offer new editions.
For each motif there is a matching story
The unusual thing about Reinfried Marass' motifs is the story that he sees and writes or has written for them. A ghostwriter helps him from time to time (to read on the homepage). He always has a vision, a mini-story that he wants to portray. Not infrequently he looks for references to classic films in the photo title to make clear what is important to him in the respective picture.
Incidentally, he wants the women he photographs to also tell their stories, so to speak, per expression. And they are women like you and me, not highly paid top models. Excitingly sympathetic.
