Both brands can look back on numerous joint successes in motorsport. The outstanding highlight is the "TAG Turbo made by Porsche. This engine powered Formula 1 cars in the 1980s and won two constructors' world championships with McLaren in 1984 and 1985 and three drivers' world championships from 1984 to 1986.
Memories of Jo Siffert
Heuer had already been involved in motorsport since the 1970s - namely as Jo Siffert's partner. At the wheel of various Porsche sports prototypes, the unforgettable man from Freiburg celebrated a number of long-distance victories between 1966 and 1971 and was involved in Porsche's title win in the Sports Car World Championship in 1969.
In the 1990s, TAG Heuer became a sponsor of the Porsche Supercup and is still a partner of numerous one-make cups of the sports car manufacturer.
Logical continuation
Building on previous successes, Porsche and TAG Heuer are now setting out for new shores with their involvement in Formula E. The Porsche factory team will compete in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship 2019/2020 as the "TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team".
The watchmaker from La Chaux-de-Fonds was one of the founding members of the first electric racing series. With their new partnership in Formula E, the two companies are also bringing together their expertise in technology, precision and connectivity.
