Ferdinand Porsche's son Ferdinand Anton Ernst, also known as "Ferry," joined his father's automobile factory in 1931 and founded the car brand named after the family in 1948. Edouard Heuer's great-grandson Jack managed the company for decades.
Chronograph and electric wheel hub motor
Jack Heuer and Ferdinand Porsche were pioneers whose visions were to permanently change their respective fields of business. Heuer designed the first chronograph, Porsche constructed an electric wheel hub motor.
Both achievements were awarded medals at the World's Fairs in Paris eleven years apart: Heuer was honored in 1889, and the first Lohner-Porsche electromobile at the Expo in 1900.
Cooperation and campaign with racer Jo Siffert
Like the 911 in automobiles, the Heuer Monaco broke all known design rules of traditional watchmaking. The innovations of the Heuer Monaco involved a considerable financial outlay.
As an alternative to a costly advertising campaign, Jack Heuer relied on a creative sponsorship arrangement with Freiburg racing driver and Porsche dealer Jo Siffert to connect him with the sports car manufacturer. At the premiere of the film 'Live Fast, Die Young' in 2005, he recalled the terms of the contract.
Jack Heuer: "For 25,000 Swiss francs, he placed our logo on his car and suit. He was also able to buy our watches at wholesale prices and sell them on to his racing friends at a profit. By the end of the 1969 season, almost half of the Formula One drivers were wearing Heuer watches."
Porsche is a permanent fixture in endurance racing
In 1999, the relationship intensified further - thanks to the Porsche Carrera Cup and Supercup competitions, followed by the World Endurance Championship. Finally, in 2019, Porsche established its own Formula E team with TAG Heuer as its title and timing partner. The TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team is now fighting for the world championship.
Porsche has long been a force to be reckoned with in endurance racing. Together with TAG Heuer, the GT team feels ideally equipped for the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
In addition to physical competitions, TAG Heuer is also involved in virtual racing and supports the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup. The watch brand also acts as a global partner at Porsche's Classic events and rallies.
Typical font of the sports car manufacturer
The bezel of the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph bears the engraved lettering of Porsche. The indices are also executed in the sports car manufacturer's unmistakable font. The typical Porsche colors of red, black and gray - which are also reminiscent of earlier Heuer models - can be found everywhere.
The transparent back of the case reveals the newly designed flywheel. As a loving homage to the famous Porsche steering wheel, it is printed with "Porsche" and "TAG Heuer.
The asphalt effect of the dial was created especially for this watch and symbolizes the passion for racing. The Arabic numerals are reminiscent of the numbers on the dashboard of a Porsche sports car.
The heart is the manufacture movement caliber Heuer 02
The timepiece is available with two bracelets. Either with a soft strap made of luxurious calfskin with innovative decorative stitching reminiscent of the Porsche interior. Or with a purist metal bracelet in a racing look.
