By opening the tailgate, the truck can also be loaded with the two racing car miniatures through the ramp. The anniversary edition, limited to 700 pieces, comes in a high-quality wooden box and costs 169.95 euros.

Specially tailored race transporter
In order to transport additional spare parts such as engines, gearboxes and body parts, Porsche had two transport vehicles specially tailored to the needs of motorsport built in the mid-1960s.

The Mercedes-Benz O317 high-floor bus, which was produced from 1957 to 1972, served as the technical basis. Due to its self-supporting design, it was particularly well suited for the elaborate conversion by the bodywork company Robert Schenk from Stuttgart-Feuerbach.

Racing car in two variants
In October 1967, the Zuffenhausen engineers presented their newly developed three-liter eight-cylinder sports car, the Porsche 908. The model was available as a short- and a long-tail version.

The 908 short-tail had a movable tailgate and an additional spoiler at the front, while the 908 long-tail was equipped with an extended tail, larger tail fins and a movable, transverse wing. Depending on the condition of the individual race tracks, it was decided which version would be used.

One of the most famous 908 drivers of that time was the unforgettable Swiss Jo Siffert.
