Porsche: Sally Carrera meets Lightning McQueen 🎥
RACE REUNION 7 After more than a decade, the life-size, real-life stars of Disney and Pixar's Cars, Sally Carrera and Lightning McQueen, reunite at a motorsports meet in the United States.
Sally Carrera and Lightning McQueen (center gallery) the stars of Disney and Pixar's Cars, will reunite at Racing Reunion 7 Sept. 28-Oct. 1 at Weather Tech Raceway Laguna Seca. Normally, life-size Sally Carrera and Lightning McQueen are at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart and the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. For the event, the two museums have loaned out Sally and Lightning to bring them together once again.
Reunion at Laguna Seca
Jay Ward, Creative Director of Franchise at Pixar Animation Studios: "You can't have a motorsports celebration without Lightning McQueen and Sally Carrera. The life-size cars were created in 2006 for the premiere of the Cars movie. Sally was made from a real 996-generation 911 and actually drives. Sally and Lightning got to see a lot of the world. However, in the past decade, they were far away from each other. It's wonderful that they are now reunited at the racing reunion."
911 Sally Special in the spotlight
Both Jay Ward and Bob Pauley (gallery, left), production designers for Cars, will participate in Rennsport Reunion 7. The 2022 911 Sally Special will also return to the spotlight after its record attempt last year. Thanks to its generous owner, the one-off will also be on display at Rennsport Reunion. The special edition model was created in collaboration between Pixar and Porsche and fetched a sale price of $3.6 million at a Sotheby's auction last year. The proceeds were donated to two charities.
