Passione Engadina: In honor of Ettore Bugatti 🎥
There's hardly ever anything more EXCLUSIVE At the eleventh edition of the Passione Engadina classic car event, Bugatti took center stage. The tradition-rich brand invoked the roots of Ettore Bugatti.
After a few years of apprenticeship and work, Ettore Bugatti founded his own company in Molsheim, Alsace, at the age of just 28. His artistic upbringing and engineering talent led him to build some of the most innovative cars of all time.
The story of Ettore Bugatti's journey and the development of the brand was told in a special exhibition in front of the Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz. And finally, the Bugatti pavilion displayed 13 vehicles, ranging from the Type 1 Prinetti Stucchi - a motorized tricycle - to the race track-focused hypercar Bolide1, which is not scheduled for delivery to customers until 2024.
Classics and technical marvels
More than 130 vintage Italian cars and Bugatti icons met at the Signalbahn parking lot in St. Moritz for the start of the Julius Baer Rally as part of Passione Engadina. The route led over winding roads through Switzerland and Italy, over mountain roads and Alpine passes.
Among the participants some early Grand Prix cars, including the Type 35, the Type 51 and the Type 59. These technical marvels once ruled the world's race tracks. Today they are driven on the road by their owners and represent the embodiment of the technical genius of Ettore Bugatti.
Dynamics demonstration in Samedan
On the runway of Samedan Airport at an altitude of 1707 meters above sea level, official Bugatti driver Andy Wallace presented the Chiron Super Sport accompanied by customer cars.
It was the perfect place to unleash the full power of the 1600 hp 8-liter W16 engine. The Passione Engadina participants arrived later at the airport for the first time trial, which challenged the drivers' precision and timing.
