With the appropriate background music, children also fall asleep quickly in the electric car.
Lack of sleep is the order of the day for parents. Those with children under the age of two sleep less than five hours a night on average.
This was the result of a survey commissioned by Nissan among 7500 consumers in England, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Norway and the Netherlands. It is therefore not uncommon for parents to take the car for a spin around the block to lull the children to sleep.
Lullaby of an internal combustion engine
But so-called dream driving could become more difficult in the electric age, because electric cars such as the Nissan Leaf produce no local emissions and no noise to make the little ones tired. The remedy is the Nissan Leaf Dream Drive - a lullaby developed by Nissan together with an English sound designer. This imitates the soothing sound frequencies of a humming internal combustion engine. The lullaby, which consists of five 3-minute tracks, creates the perfect slumbering atmosphere on board the Leaf.
Early childhood development of hearing
"The lullaby takes into account research on early childhood hearing development and is inspired by the audible and inaudible sounds of the Nissan Leaf," explains sound designer Tom Middleton. "Together with Nissan, we found healthy and safety-conscious ways to bring sounds into the electric car. We want to shape a new generation of automotive design and functionality that is driven by people's needs."
