Motorsport: Regazzoni film for the 10th anniversary of his death
Not only friends of motorsports should watch the documentary about the second Swiss GP winner (after Jo Siffert) on SRF1 late in the evening of December 14. "Clay Regazzoni - Life at the Limit" is a sensitive portrait of an exceptional talent shaped by fate. The film by Felice Zenoni was made with the participation of Clay Regazzoni's family and companions [...]
The film by Felice Zenoni was made with the participation of Clay Regazzoni's family and companions such as Niki Lauda and Piero Ferrari, the son of Enzo Ferrari. His widow Mariapia, his children Alessia and Gian Maria, and his siblings Vanna and Giordano speak openly about the Ticino sportsman who never compromised on the race track or in his private life. The well-known Formula 1 journalists Roger Benoit (Blick), Jacques Deschenaux (RTS) and Pino Allievi (Gazzetto dello Sport) describe Clay Regazzoni both from the perspective of a journalist and as a friend.
The film shows the career of the body saddler, who came from a humble background, to the top of Formula 1. The serious accident in Long Beach in 1980 put a brutal end to his GP career, and for the rest of his life Clay Regazzoni was confined to a wheelchair. "The Indestructible", as he was reverently called, fought his way back into life, campaigned for the rights of the disabled in everyday life and drove rallies all over the world. On December 15, 2006, Clay Regazzoni was killed in a traffic accident in Italy.
Fredy Lienhard supported the documentation
The realization of this elaborate documentary on the 10th anniversary of his death was made possible not least thanks to the financial support of Fredy Lienhard. The patron and owner of autobau in Romanshorn, where many racing cars with a Swiss connection are exhibited, thus made an important contribution to ensuring that one of the best and most popular car racers of all time is also remembered through this film.
Frey Lienhard invited numerous guests in advance, including many well-known motorsports personalities, to the preview in Romanshorn (more about this in the upcoming issue of AutoSprintCH). On December 14, "Clay Regazzoni - Life at the Limit" will be shown to Swiss TV audiences at 10:55 p.m. on SRF1. After that, the film will still be available to watch online and will later be available on DVD.
