The award ceremony for the "Model Vehicle of the Year 2020" will be held virtually this year - how could it be otherwise?

Readers were spoiled for choice in a total of 28 categories. The sizes of the big dreams in small scale ranged from 1:87 model railroad scale to 1:6.

Mercedes winning model for large and small purse
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.9 AMG from Schuco in 1:87 is currently the best value winner with a retail price of just under ten euros. The most expensive model this year was also a model with a star, the 1:18 scale version of the Mercedes-Benz 600 Landaulet from CMC with a recommended retail price of 908 euros.

As in the previous year, the innovation prize went to Schuco. The traditional company had succeeded in reducing the price of its 1:18 scale model of the Mercedes Pagoda from 160 to less than 100 euros by relocating production - while maintaining the same quality.

For the very first time, the editors also offered a prize in the new category "Collecting 1:18 Commercial Vehicles". This was won by the Commer TS3 from CMR as a racing transporter of the legendary Ecurie Ecosse, a particularly eye-catching original en miniature.

The other model vehicles of 2020 are:

The Mercedes-Benz 600 Landaulet from CMC in 1:18 was chosen as the Super Model 2020. It is also the most expensive model at the same time.

Also RC and slot cars
In the RC vehicles category, the winner was Carson's Unimog 406, a filigree 1:87 radio-controlled model (category: Elektro Economy). The "Elektro Business" class was won by the VW Karmann Ghia from Tamiya in tenfold scale.

In the slot car category, the BMW M1 "Denim" from Carrera (1:32) and the Opel Kadett C Coupé from BRM (1:24) came out on top.

In addition, readers voted for the brand among all automakers that they felt particularly cultivated the model car theme. The award for "Top Model Brand" went to Mercedes-Benz for the tenth time in a row.

This year, the awards ceremony took place virtually at the agricultural machinery manufacturer Claas in Harsewinkel, Westphalia. The "Model Vehicle" booklet with all the award winners will be published on December 9.
