Fashion: So chic wears scrap car

One of this year's graduates, Victoria Davies, drew inspiration for her bachelor's thesis from a car graveyard.
Deconstruction would interest her, she writes in the statement accompanying her graduation collection.
Victoria Davies: "I own a leather jacket and was thinking about how to make a jacket like that more sustainable, and then the leather seats of my car immediately came to mind."
Diploma collection from a car graveyard
So she set out for a car graveyard, where she dismantled car seats one by one. But that was just the beginning.
Victoria Davies also cut out the airbags, and tampered with other fabric trim. Including upholstery.
Head x Eyes on Talents award
The result was a collection that was deemed remarkable by the college's awards jury, helping Victoria Davies win the Head x Eyes on Talents 2020 Prix.
That means nothing other than keeping an eye on the young woman and supporting her in whatever she concocts next on her way to a Masters Degree.
