After more than 20 years of using the current first response vehicles, the Altstätten fire department decided to purchase a new one. For the commander of the Altstätten Eichberg fire department, both economic and practical factors were decisive in the choice of vehicle.

Says Peter Keel: "The L200 scored particularly well for its good price/performance ratio and features such as its small turning circle."

Additional load increase to 3.6 tons
Romeo Städler, Managing Director of Sportgarage Kuratli in Altstätten: "The conversion, which involved three companies, took twelve months from receipt of order to delivery. First, the L200s were loaded up to 3.5 tons by the Emil Frey AG body shop in Safenwil."

The loading bridges and the swap bodies were manufactured and assembled by FABA Fahrzeugbau AG in Oberriet. In addition, the fire fighting equipment was installed by Tony Brändle AG in Wängi.

One of the two Mitsubishi pick-ups was equipped with a high-pressure extinguishing unit.

Special superstructures for use
One of the two pick-ups was also equipped with a high-pressure extinguishing unit and is used to fight fires. On the second vehicle, pumps were installed for water use.

Romeo Städler: "I'm sure that with the L200, the Altstätten Fire Department has a reliable, resilient helper at its side that is suitable for its missions."
