Milestone: Good night at the Formula 1 Museum

OKTANHALTIGE OASIS The new type of hotel in Langenthal not only has this name, but is also a milestone in the field of gastronomy and events. Anyone who loves fast cars and is also looking for variety will feel particularly at home here. When Markus Bösiger does something, it is done right. Or rather: foundation and base. What started with Pneuhandel [...]

They are looking forward to many curious guests. Markus Bösiger and Jo Vonlanthen, who is sitting in the Williams FW09 with a 1984 Honda turbo engine (Photos: Peter Wyss).

When Markus Bösiger does something, it has a hand and a foot. Or rather: foundation and base. What began with the tire trade is now the regional business park in Langenthal.

The aim of the group of companies initiated and managed by the former sidecar and truck racer is the realization of various projects for active leisure in the middle of Switzerland.

Everything under one roof
The latest example is the Hotel Meilenstein. Attached to the previous main building on Lotzwilstrasse in Langenthal, the new hotel complex offers everything the heart desires - especially of car freaks.

Integrated is not only the collection of Markus Bösiger's vehicles, but also the Formula 1 racing car owned by Jo Vonlanthen. The GP bolides of the Fribourg native, who lives in Ticino, were previously stored in various places or rented out as exhibits, such as the museums in Sinsheim and Hockenheim. Now he is bringing them all to Langenthal to present them to day visitors and hotel guests.

Leaving the hotel rooms, you immediately look into the hall with the racing cars on display.

70 years of F1 history
But that's not all. The milestone building presents 70 years of Formula 1 history. At least one model from every decade, including particularly valuable examples from the 50s and 60s.

Little Jo" once owned 40 Formula 1 cars, but today there are still 30, including three original Ferraris. Soon they will all be united under one roof.

On display walls, Jo Vonlanthen recalls the racing drivers and important races from the 70-year history of Formula 1.

Something for everyone
Those who have had enough of cars and are looking for variety do not have to walk far. Four restaurants, a bar, bowling, billiards, fitness and wellness center and the largest private aquarium in Europe entice guests to stay. So hotel guests and event-goers never have to leave home to experience something.

You can feel it: detours and boredom must be anathema to Markus Bösiger.

Unique is the aquarium with four total 42 meter long pools. A space for events with up to 700 people.
