The short film shows Stirling Moss with the 1958 Maserati Eldorado at Monza. 60 years later, the current car owner brought this unique car to the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The design used for this prototype comes from the Maserati Eldorado. The iconic single-seater made its debut in 1958 at the "Trofeo dei due Mondi" in Monza with Moss at the wheel.
Legendary victory at the Monaco GP
It is no coincidence that the brand with the trident is commemorating Sir Stirling Moss, who died on April 12, 2020, at this time. His Formula 1 victory at the Monaco Grand Prix on May 13, 1956, at the wheel of the Maserati 250F stands out among the many trophies in the collection of the four-time vice world champion.
Stirling Moss led the race from the first to the last of the 100 laps on the winding and demanding Monaco circuit. Third place for Jean Behra (F) in another 250F rounded off a triumphant day for Maserati.
In his career, Moss also drove the Maserati Tipo 60 Birdcage, Tipo 61 and 300 S. In 1954 and 1956, the Briton contested the entire Formula 1 season for Maserati. After Monaco, Moss also won the 1956 Italian GP at Monza. After the first Grand 1957 in Argentina he changed the brand.
First completely own engine
The launch of the MC20 is an important event for the Modena-based company. On the one hand because of its comeback in racing and on the other because it will be the first vehicle with an engine (twin turbo V6) that is 100 percent designed, developed and produced by Maserati itself.
