It was Toyota President Akio Toyoda himself who gave the impetus for the development of this sports yacht. At the invitation of Toyota's marine division, he spent a few days on the water a few years ago and witnessed the new Toyota premium yachts in the Ponam range being prepared for market launch in Japan. As Lexus' head of international brand management, he recognized the lifestyle potential for the brand. As a result, teams at the Lexus Design Center designed an open sport yacht for six to eight people with Lexus high-performance V8 engines and advanced handling and styling. The designs were refined until finally the Marquis-Carver Yacht Group from Pulaski/Wisconsin (USA) was allowed to manufacture this beautiful unique piece.
Much automobile in the boat
The inner structure is made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP), a high-strength yet very lightweight material used in the structure of racing cars and supercars such as the Lexus LFA. The yacht is powered by two 5.0-liter V8 gasoline engines from the Lexus F models. Both engines produce over 328 kW/440 hp each and accelerate the yacht to up to 43 knots (about 79 km/h) via a pair of hydraulically controlled inboard/outboard stern motors. The captain controls and monitors the onboard systems using a color touchscreen at the helm; displayed there are GPS navigation, digital nautical charts, surface radar, underwater sonar, and lighting and entertainment systems.
