The aim is to support aspiring young musicians on their way to a professional career. It is a competition between master class and promotion award for emerging talents. In addition to skill and luck, it takes a lot of energy, perseverance, tenacity and time to gain a foothold in the music business.

Al Jarreau, Chick Correa and Nigel Kennedy
Until May 9, young jazz bands and solo acts can apply to #JazzLab. A jury of experts will select two winning acts. These will be invited to a three-day master class at the Festival da Jazz in the summer, win prize money and be given well-known mentors with whom they can rehearse and arrange. The crowning finale is the concert in the festival location, the legendary Dracula Club (Galerie Mitte).

The Festival da Jazz is characterized by a great closeness to the artists. Even the Main Stage holds only about 150 guests. Stars such as Al Jarreau, Chick Correa, Diana Krall and Nigel Kennedy have already performed in this intimate setting.

Advance sale of tickets begins at the end of May
Last year, the Dracula Club was dispensed with, and the main concerts were held in the ballroom of the Hotel Reine Victoria. Also for the second summer affected by Covid, the Festival da Jazz is pulling out all the stops to present live music to the public.

Under the motto "Keeping Live Music Alive", music will be played from July 8 to August 1. Advance booking starts at the end of May.
