Installation MINI LIVING - Breathe

Attractive living space in big cities is becoming increasingly scarce, and the responsible use of resources is also becoming more and more important when it comes to living. As a visionary approach to a solution, MINI presented the installation MINI LIVING - Breathe in cooperation with the New York architecture firm SO - IL. Mini Living Breathe
MINI showed during the "Salon de Mobilie" earlier this month in Milan its installation "LIVING -Breathe" as a concept proposal for modern living.

"MINI LIVING - Breathe questions conventional living concepts and opens up a creative approach to solutions for future challenges in the urban environment. The installation shows what happens when we see the house not just as a living space but as an active part of its environment, making a positive contribution to the environment and its inhabitants," explains Esther Bahne, Head of Brand Strategy and Business Innovation MINI.

Living rethought
True to the maxims of "Creative Use of Space" and "Minimal Footprint," the installation, which was on display at the Salon de Mobile in Milan, created attractive living space for up to three people on a previously unused urban residual area of just under 50 square meters. A flexible, translucent outer skin creates the boundary between inside and outside. A total of six implied rooms as well as a roof garden offer space for personal development. On the first floor, a kitchen area forms the spatial and social interface with the surroundings and the outside world. Above this are various living areas on a total of three levels. The translucency allows shadows and movements in other rooms to be seen, creating a sense of connectedness and togetherness, but equally offering the possibility of retreat if desired.

Good microclimate
MINI LIVING - Breathe installation provides a better microclimate in the city. Its flexible outer skin has a special coating that filters and neutralizes the air. In addition, the roof garden with highly active oxygen-producing plants improves air quality and urban microclimate. Furthermore, the outer skin is translucent. It floods the installation with daylight, creating a bright and pleasant atmosphere. An intelligent design on the roof collects rainwater for further use and can be taken from a tap, for example. The movable and adaptable basic structure of the installation rounds off the resource-conscious overall concept. Its design is such that it can be easily dismantled and reassembled at another location. In the second half of this year, MINI will show another "LIVING" installation at A/D/O in New York.
