This year again thousands of fans will make a pilgrimage there for the largest GTI meeting (May 29 to June 1) in the Alpine resort. The cross-generational festival for car fans, people with and without GTIs and many curiosities has made the meeting famous worldwide. Special theme days focus on one country at a time with various program items.
Premieres of sporty new models
Volkswagen will also be showing sporty new models at Wörthersee: These include the standard Golf GTI TCR with 290 hp , which accelerates from zero to 100 in 5.6 seconds and up to 260 mph, as well as its role model, the 350-hp racing version for the international WTCR series. Third in line is the T-Roc R with 300 hp and 400 Newton meters of torque.
Electric record car at the show
With the I.D. R, Volkswagen is also bringing the topic of electric mobility to Lake Wörthersee: the brand's first fully electric race car has an output of 500 kW (680 hp) and set a new record last year at the legendary Pikes Peak mountain race in the US state of Colorado.
The Volkswagen Motorsport team is currently preparing for its next challenge: breaking the lap record for electric vehicles on the demanding Nürburgring-Nordschleife. AutoSprintCH is there and will report.
Pilot Benny Leuchter presents the WTCR
Brand ambassador and WTCR driver Benny Leuchter and Jasmin Preisig, a participant in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in the "Girls only GTI TCR Team," will also be on hand to provide sporting entertainment. The two will also be at the GTI meeting, as will presenters Miriam Höller and Sidney Hoffmann.
