They thus clearly surpassed the previous record of 960 vehicles set in Toluca (Mexico) on December 3, 2017. All model series of the classic sports car from all over Europe since its market launch in 1964 were represented at the world record parade in Lommel. Many cars also came from Switzerland.

Sales increased again this year
More Mustang models are sold per capita in Belgium than in any other European country, making Ford's Lommel proving ground the ideal location for the world record attempt. Now in its 55th year of production, the 2018 Ford Mustang was the world's best-selling sports coupe for the fourth consecutive year. Sales continued to grow in the first half of 2019 with 5,500 sales in Europe, up 3.7 percent from the same period last year.
