For the twelfth time, Toyota is supporting the prestigious cultural event as "Official Car Provider". The first edition of the film festival took place in 1946, in the garden of the Grand Hotel in Locarno. Today, the event counts nine different venues, including the Piazza Grande, which seats up to 8,000 film enthusiasts every evening.
Sustainability in focus
Since 2010, the cultural event has also carried the "climate neutral" seal and strives to reduce its CO2 emissions every year anew. One of numerous measures is the use of hybrid cars from Toyota. Around 60 vehicles from the Toyota and Lexus brands are in use. Together with its premium brand Lexus, Toyota has the world's largest hybrid range with 34 models. More than 10 million cars with Toyota's innovative drive technology have been sold to date, saving more than 77 tons of CO2.
Anniversary
A milestone in this impressive record was set exactly twenty years ago when the hybrid pioneer Prius I was launched in Japan - another anniversary this year alongside Toyota's 50th in Switzerland. So there are more than enough reasons to celebrate in Locarno this year.
