Cupra: Formentor as a yacht with e-hybrid 🎥
PREMIERE Cupra is expanding its collaboration with De Antonio Yachts with the D28 Formentor e-Hybrid, the first electrified yacht. This underlines the partners' commitment to sustainability and performance.
The result of an earlier collaboration with the Barcelona-based company for high-performance designer yachts was a 400 hp show boat in 2020 (AutoSprintCH reported) that reaches a top speed of 40 knots.

A challenge on the water
Antonino Labate, Director of Strategy, Business Development and Operations at Cupra: "We love to bring our performance to other areas. De Antonio is the perfect partner to be the unconventional challenger in a completely new environment on the water. Now we are going one step further with a hybrid version of the D28 Formentor, which will be officially presented to the public in early 2023."
Retractable 15 kW electric motors
The two brands jointly developed the design of the high-performance yacht De Antonio Yachts D28 Formentor. The inspiration came from the first model developed independently by Cupra, the Formentor. Now the collaboration is being complemented by the electrified version of the yacht.
In addition to the 400 hp engine, two retractable 15 kW electric motors are integrated into the drivetrain to create a hybrid system that can be driven either in combustion mode or in pure electric mode.
In all-electric mode, the D28 Formentor yacht runs emission-free, i.e. without water pollution and with very low noise emissions - for example when sailing in restricted harbors and lakes.
