At a private ceremony, the autobau Erlebniswelt in Romanshorn paid tribute to the achievements and personality of the well-known Ticino driver. Clay Regazzoni was one of the best racing drivers from Switzerland, Adriano Cimarosti, long-time motorsport journalist and book author, described the driver on the occasion of the opening of a special exhibition at autobau Romanshorn.
A fighter to the end of life
Clay never stopped fighting, even after his serious accident in 1980. Daughter Alessia Regazzoni, who traveled to Lake Constance with her brother Gian Maria and mother Maria Pia Regazzoni, described her father as a family man with a big heart: "He always stayed grounded even after his great successes."
Vehicles from the private collection
The autobau Erlebniswelt commemorates the famous Swiss motor sportsman and also his commitment to paraplegics. A March-BMW 782 Formula 2 racing car, with which Clay won second place in the 1979 St. Peterzell-Hemberg hill climb, is already part of the collection.
New from the private collection on display for six months are two other racing cars once driven by the most successful Swiss Formula 1 racing driver of all time: a Ford Mustang and a 1983 Mercedes 280SE. In addition, Clay Regazzoni's private car, a 1967 300 SE Cabriolet.
