The "Fallout Boys" team will celebrate its rally premiere with a converted Mitsubishi Pajero GL 2.8 (125 hp) from 1995. This model has already made rally history with twelve Dakar victories like no other off-road vehicle and has always been one of the off-road veterans - reason enough to let it take part in the CATrophy.
Across Europe
The three-man team will be starting with a Mitsubishi Pajero GL 2.8 that has been specially converted for the rally and was first put on the market in 1995. For team member Markus Stadelmann, adventure comes first: "From the CATrophy 2017, we expect an unforgettable and adventurous time with many exciting moments and extraordinary impressions - and all that ideally without any breakdowns."
Several conversions
For a smooth and as comfortable as possible ride, the original white Pajero has undergone some modifications. In addition to a roof tent for four people, a second battery and a battery monitor were installed to supply additional equipment. Additional 12V sockets were also added, as well as a special construction for transporting clothes, spare parts and tools. To ensure that the Pajero does not falter off paved roads, it was equipped with an off-road intake snorkel and an inclinometer.
The CATrophy 2017
The rally started on May 13, 2017 and this year leads to Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Belarus, Hungary and Italy, among others, to the theme destination Chernobyl in Ukraine. There are 55 teams or 131 participants registered. The participation criteria are clearly defined: The purchase price of the rally vehicle must not exceed 2017 CHF this year and the vehicle must be at least 20 years old. In addition, the participants are not allowed to use GPS for orientation.
