Art Car
Matazo Kayama's Art Car, a BMW 535i, was created in 1990 in Hamburg Harbor in front of the Maritime Museum.

The idea of having an automobile designed by an artist's hand came from the French auctioneer and passionate racing driver Hervé Poulain. On his initiative, the American Alexander Calder painted a BMW racing car at the beginning of the 1970s.

An igniting vision for BMW to establish the Art Car Collection. Over the years, vehicles were created that generally show the theme of cars and art in an original way.

For Art Basel all vehicles are in the app
To experience the BMW Art Cars virtually and interactively, the Acute Art app can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store and Google Play.

The first cars are already accessible via the app: Alexander Calder (BMW 3.0 CSL, 1975), Michael Jagamara Nelson (BMW M3, 1989), Ken Done (BMW M3, 1989), Matazo Kayama (BMW 535i, 1990), Esther Mahlangu (BMW 525i, 1991), Jeff Koons (BMW M3 GT2, 2010) and John Baldessari (BMW M6 GTLM, 2016).

Every two weeks, more BMW Art Cars will be integrated into the Acute Art App. All vehicles will be on display in time for Art Basel (September 23-26).
