Airspeed: Flying bolides at the start 🎥

NEW PILOT TRIO In the summer of 2019, Matt Pearson, founder of Alauda Aeronautics and Airspeeder, presented his idea of an exciting future racing experience with flying cars. There are now three pilots at the start.

Emily Duggan, Zephatali Walsh and Fabio Tischler are all starting this season.

Since Matt Pearson's announcement, a team of engineers, technical and sports specialists have been busy developing flying electric race cars.

The world's first remote-controlled flying race cars will soon compete in the so-called EXA and Airspeeder racing series, piloted by the world's best speed pilots.

Pilots and vehicles for the EXA and Airspeeder races are currently undergoing extensive testing.

Three pilots start this year
The new racing machines took off for the first time in the summer of last year in southern Australia. More than 1,500 people applied to be pilots for fast car planes. In an elaborate selection process with extremely demanding criteria, the three pilots have now been determined.

The trio includes Emily Duggan, an Australian racer, Zephatali Walsh, ex-surfer and experienced drone pilot, and Fabio Tischler (gallery, right), a German drone pilot who emigrated to Australia and has worked with Red Bull, Toyota and Go Pro.

Training in the Alauda aeronautocs simulator
In the coming weeks, these three pilots will undergo a rigorous testing and training program in the Alauda aeronautocs simulator. In parallel, the engineers continue the development of the driving/aircraft.

The latest development stage of augmented reality technology is being tested for the EXA and Airspeeder races. Radar and lidar systems will be used to further optimize safety.
