Subaru: Pure driving pleasure with the new BRZ 🎥

BELIEBT The Japanese automaker is indeed bringing the new Subaru BRZ to us - but only 100 units. But that in no way diminishes the driving pleasure of the first test lap on a circuit.

The BRZ, with its free-eye boxer engine, manual transmission, rear-wheel drive and low curb weight, is allowed to swim against the rolling electric wave one last time before Subaru will successively mingle with the electric cars.

Let's keep it short: If you're looking for a playfully controllable automobile that gives its occupants pure driving pleasure, you simply can't go wrong with the second-generation BRZ. The boxer engine under the hood of the two-door rear-wheel drive car has a displacement of 2.4 liters and produces 234 hp. The maximum torque is also higher than that of the 200 hp predecessor, with 250 Newton meters available at 3700 rpm.

Test drive on a race track

So the BRZ no longer needs to be kept happy with very high engine speeds. During the first test drive on a race track, the Subaru BRZ skillfully played out this new strength. It now has a limited-slip differential on the rear axle as standard, which distributes power to the wheels as needed when accelerating out of a corner. Rarely has a car with relatively modest performance been so much fun to drive - also thanks to the pleasingly precise steering.

Everything it needs is built in

Standard equipment includes sports seats with leather-fabric upholstery and heated seats, a multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control and a rearview camera. Assistants take care of blind spot control, monitor cross traffic when backing out of a parking space, and help with lane changes. That's all it needs. The base model is available from 40,500 Swiss francs.
