Porsche: Paris-Dakar Rally on ice-slippery track 🎥
THERE'S ANY WAY The off-road history of the Porsche 911 began even before the 1985 Paris-Dakar Rally in the 1970s at the East African Safari Rally. Now comes the new 911 Dakar with amazing off-road characteristics.
The Porsche 911 has proven to be an extremely versatile model. For 60 years now, it has been coming up with new variants time and again. The latest creation is the 911 Dakar, an extremely sporty two-seater with remarkable on-road and off-road qualities.
From 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds
The technicians in Weissach and Zuffenhausen have created a model variant for the new, road-going Dakar, which will be offered in a limited edition of 2,500 units and will quickly find its clientele.
The ground clearance of the Dakar, which is fitted with 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels and special Pirelli tires at the rear, has been increased by 50 to 161 millimeters compared with that of the 911 Carrera with sports suspension and can be extended by an additional 30 millimeters with the standard lift system. As a result, the Dakar has slope angles like an off-road SUV and also a ramp angle suitable for off-road use.
At 170 km/h, the vehicle automatically lowers itself back to normal level. The maximum speed is limited to 240 km/h, but the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just 3.4 seconds.
Rear engine makes sound and mood
The 3-liter biturbo six-cylinder delivers a maximum torque of 570 Nm and a peak output of 480 hp. On the road, it then also makes itself clearly audible - striking in our new EV world, and a joy for petrolheads.
The full bucket seats keep you perfectly connected to the car, and the fact that there is no rear seat at all fits in with the racing concept. Also thanks to the lightweight glazing, the offroad Porsche weighs only a comparatively modest 1605 kilograms.
All-wheel drive and rear axle steering
With the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, all-wheel drive, rear-axle steering and roll stabilization, the Dakar is equipped for any road surface. On the normal road, it performs as demurely as a basic 911, and on unpaved roads - be it sand, gravel or ice and snow - it can hardly be rattled.
Two new driving modes have been developed specifically for the Dakar: Rally mode for loose ground, with particularly rear-heavy all-wheel drive, and Offroad mode for maximum traction in difficult terrain or on sand. Launch control can be activated in both new driving modes.
Several design packages in the program
Dakar customers have numerous options to choose from. For example, they can opt for the roof basket with integrated LED headlights, which can be used to store spades, jerry cans or bulky luggage. The bodywork can be varied in many ways. From the discreet Shadegreen metallic to the martial-looking Rally Design package with two-tone paint in white and gentian blue metallic and decorative foiling in the style of the Dakar race cars. The base price of the new 911 Dakar is 268,900 Swiss francs.
