A summery Wednesday morning, somewhere between Berlin and Dresden. As I drive into the impressive Lausitzring arena, the Porsche semitrailer trucks can be seen from afar. When I arrive in the pits, I'm amazed to see three beautiful cars from Weissach-and as a test driver, I'm allowed to get a feel for all of them.

For hobbyists and ambitious pilots
I'll start with the Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Porsche offers the Trackday variant for more hobby-like driving and the Competition variant for ambitious sports enthusiasts. The Trackday model comes with a fixed two-way damper system, while the Competition has adjustable three-way dampers. This means that the damper can be specially tuned during compression and rebound. For the experienced pilot certainly helpful, for the hobby area already too complex.

In addition, there is a larger fuel tank, a three-ram air-lift system and an integrated fire extinguisher. The electric brake boost, which is found exclusively on the Trackday model, has a somewhat synthetic feel, but is still easy to control. Optional components can be added according to customer requirements.

Fast gearshifts with the PDK
And off we go: After getting in and driving off, I immediately feel at ease. The instruments and controls are clearly arranged. I set TC and ESC to off, and the ten-way adjustable ABS to level 3 (0 off, 10 full).

What immediately stands out positively are the gearshifts: Compared to the Audi R8 GT4 that I tested in Portimão, they're worlds apart. The 6-speed dual-clutch transmission shifts as fast as lightning!

The performance leaves nothing to be desired
The 425 hp from the 3.8-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine is perfectly transferred to the slicks and the asphalt. The engine has a wide torque band, which in turn saves gearshifts and thus reduces wear. The car is downright delightful on the track and gives you a familiar feeling after just a few meters - it's simply incredibly fun.

Thanks to the built-in air conditioning, the 718 Cayman GT4 CS is pleasant to drive even for somewhat less well-trained handlebars, and for me it's a perfect endurance car.

The price-performance ratio speaks for itself
Newcomers have a great opportunity to get a taste of motorsport at a reasonable cost. The Trackday variant costs 134,000 euros and the Competition 157,000 euros. The service is also great: All maintenance work can be carried out by the official Porsche dealer.
