Opel: New Astra Sports Tourer from 22,100 francs

Switzerland is and will remain an estate car country - and the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer fits in perfectly. Following its world premiere at the IAA in fall 2015, the first vehicles are now being delivered to their owners. Opel's models are impressive in several respects - first and foremost with their range of engines. All versions [...]

Convincing in many respects: The new Opel Astra Sports Tourer continues in the fast lane thanks to a new generation of engines.

Opel's models are impressive in several respects - first and foremost with their engine range. All versions of the new Astra are equipped exclusively with engines from the new generation. During our drive with the Sports Tourer, we clearly noticed that the 1.6 BiTurbo is a real step forward. Thanks to two-stage turbocharging and 350 Nm of torque, the Opel pulls from 80 to 120 km/h in just 8.1 seconds in fifth gear - a value that is something to be proud of.

It almost doesn't get any bigger: Whether it's a child's bike, toolboxes or simply a few crates of drinks - thanks to 80 more liters of space, the trunk offers enough storage space.

It is nothing new that the new Opel models are world champions in fuel consumption: A few days earlier, AutoSprintCH employee Felix Egolf had managed the record-breaking distance of 2111 kilometers on one tank of gas in an Opel Insignia 1.6 CDTi ecoFLEX. (to the report) And the new Opel Astra Sports Tourer is also a real fuel-saving wonder.

The new Astra has become even more practical for everyday use. The trunk volume has been increased by another 80 liters. This makes the Astra all the more suitable for families or self-employed people. The Astra is an asset for everyday life in many respects. Both the mother with a child in her arms and the self-employed craftsman will be delighted with the keyless open system. Just a swipe of the foot is enough to open the trunk lid.

Our conclusion: Opel did not secure the "European Car of the Year" award for nothing. The new Astra is a real eye-catcher and a pioneer in its class when it comes to innovation. A test drive is worthwhile - especially with one of the diesel models. The entry-level price of the Opel Astra Sports Tourer is 22,100 francs.
