Mazda: Fortunately, many roads lead to Rome 🎥
DRIVE train Unlike many other automakers, Mazda intends to continue developing the vehicle drive train on multiple tracks. The latest example is the inline six-cylinder diesel engine in the CX-60 e-Skyactiv D.
In addition to full hybrid and purely electrically driven models, Mazda fortunately continues to rely on combustion engines with 48-volt mild hybridization. After all, the aim is to supply markets worldwide where electrification is progressing more slowly than in Europe. In addition, a powerful diesel engine like the new 3.3-liter inline six is basically a perfect engine for SUV models like the CX-60.
Thanks to 200 hp in the rear-wheel drive version or 254 hp in the 4×4 variant and torques of 450 and 550 Nm, the fuel-efficient and clean diesel ensures good driving performance and, incidentally, frees the driver from any range anxiety.

Perfected diesel drive
With the new DCPCI (Distribution Controlled Partially Premixed Compression Ignition) injection and combustion process and mild hybridization, the new turbo diesel engine achieves a thermal efficiency of more than 40 percent and correspondingly low fuel consumption figures - Mazda quotes 5.0 to 5.3 l/100 km. Oxidation catalytic converter, diesel particulate filter and SCR system ensure good exhaust gas values at the same time.
On the road, both drive variants can impress with good performance, although the rear-wheel drive model weighs around 1960 kilograms and the 4×4 even around 2010 kilograms. The low-vibration inline six-cylinder harmonizes perfectly with the 8-speed automatic transmission, and when accelerating from a standstill, the electric motor at the transmission input helps out with an additional 153 Nm. Mazda Switzerland expects a 4×4 share of around 95 percent.
2500 kilos can be hooked
The 4.75-meter CX-60 offers generous space for five people. The capacity of the luggage compartment is 570 liters and can be increased to a maximum of 1726 liters by folding down the rear seat back sections. Also valuable: up to 2500 kilograms can be hooked up.
During the first test drives, it was positively noticed that the important safety and comfort features can also be operated directly via switches and buttons. With the Prime Line, Exclusive Line, Homura and Takumi equipment lines, the interior can be adapted to different preferences - from sporty to luxurious. Prices for the new diesel models start at 54,900 Swiss francs.
