Maserati: The open MC20 offers a lot of pleasure 🎥

Many super sports cars are available as convertibles shortly after their launch. Maserati attached great importance to the open-top MC20, called Cielo, being just as dynamic to drive as its coupé brother.

For the open-top version of the MC20 super sports car, Maserati wanted to come up with a more poetic name than just Spyder or Convertible. In view of the glass roof, which can be electrically stowed behind the two seats in just twelve seconds to reveal a view of the sky, Cielo - Italian for sky - seemed just right.

Opening and closing is also possible while driving, provided the speed does not exceed 50 km/h. But even when the roof is closed, a view of the sky opens up when the glass surface is electrically actuated at the touch of a button, turning the matte headliner into transparent glass.

At 1560 kilograms, the aerodynamically further refined convertible weighs only 65 kilograms more than the coupe.

Up to 100 km/h in just under three seconds
With its 1560 kilograms, the aerodynamically further refined convertible weighs only 65 kilograms more than the coupe. This also means that virtually the same driving performance is possible, as the powertrain has been taken over unchanged from the coupe.

The refined biturbo gasoline engine Nettuno, a 3-liter V6 with dual injection system and prechamber ignition, delivers a maximum torque of 730 Nm from 3000 rpm and maximum power of 630 hp at 7500 rpm. It is almost as rev-happy as a naturally aspirated engine, which benefits driving pleasure.

The car accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just under three seconds and provides immense power reserves in every driving situation. Thanks to the adaptive double-wishbone suspension and the electronic driving dynamics systems, this power is also always well delivered to the road.

With the rear window open the best sound
The Cielo is a very agile and easily controllable convertible. The direct steering is striking, responding very spontaneously and enabling the most precise steering. Fast deceleration is ensured by a Brembo braking system with a choice of steel or ceramic discs. With an axle load distribution of 40 to 60, the Cielo is a well-balanced vehicle that remains neutral up to high cornering speeds.

To keep driving dynamics under control, the five driving modes Wet, GT, Sport, Corsa and ESC Off can be selected. And there's an intoxicating sound from the high-tech V6, which is especially close when the small rear window is open. In terms of price, the MC20 Cielo is 271,500 Swiss francs - hardly an issue with the relevant clientele.
