Ford: The Transit comes as a pure electric vehicle 🎥
SUSTAINABLE LOADERS The electric wave is rolling, and it's also sweeping light commercial vehicles along with it. Almost all manufacturers have now electrified their fleets, and now Ford is offering the Transit as a plug-in model.
The new electric Transit will be launched with a battery capacity of 68 kWh and a range of 317 kilometers. The powertrains deliver between 135 kW (184 hp) and 198 kW (269 hp).
The E-Transit is also offered as a panel van with single or crew cab and as a chassis with single cab. A total of 25 variants are available. Tradesmen will appreciate the onboard power socket, which allows them to use their electrical equipment on construction sites (gallery on the right).
Award for safety equipment
Standard equipment in the Basic version includes automatic climate control and a heated windshield. The Trend version also offers such pleasant details as the Ford navigation system, which provides information on the next charging points and available parking spaces at the destination on a larger monitor.
In addition, the electric Transit comes to customers with a comprehensive range of assistants. These include a collision warning system with pedestrian detection, an intelligent cruise control system with traffic sign recognition, and a blind spot assistant. The safety organization Euro NCAP gave it a Gold Award for this.
A pleasantly quiet atmosphere
And how does the E-Transit drive? Well, not much different than its offshoots with combustion engines. In the interior, easy-care but well-made plastic dominates the landscape in front of driver and passenger. The instruments are clearly arranged, the monitor in the center quickly provides navigation data, and the whole thing is done in a pleasantly quiet atmosphere.
As with all e-mobiles, the electric motor provides its torque from the first press of the accelerator pedal, which may confuse one or two sedan drivers. Despite its dimensions, the E-Transit surprises with a pleasantly small turning circle.
Electrification of the commercial vehicle range
Following the E-Transit, Ford will further expand the electrification of its commercial vehicle range over the next two years. This will include the Transit Custom (up to one ton payload) and the Tourneo Custom next year. Finally, the new generation of the Transit Courier and Tourneo Courier will follow in 2024.
