Audi: RS comes with Competition package 🎥
TUNING Audi is upgrading the RS4 and RS5 models with two Competition packages. These include extras that sharpen the visual appearance and further improve driving dynamics - without restricting everyday usability.
The RS versions are now among the most sought-after Audi models; even the big Q8 and the electrically powered E-tron GT were sucked into the RS vortex and offer sports car performance with outputs of 600 hp and 440 kW. Now an optimized development stage is added to the range.
With the Competition and Competition Plus packages, the RS 4 Avant and the RS 5 as a coupe and as a four-door Sportback are given two technological highlights that offer further dynamic advantages for ambitious driving on the road and on the racetrack.
Braking distance reduced by up to two meters
Competition includes the Black Plus optics package, Matrix LED headlights, 20-inch wheels with 5-Y spokes, microfiber leather seats with honeycomb stitching, Alcantara controls, and seat belts with red tape. Also included are the RS sport exhaust system and an increase in top speed to 290 km/h.
The Competition Plus package goes a little further. This includes - as an option - the multi-adjustable RS Sport Suspension Pro coilover suspension in combination with the Quattro sport differential, the Corsa P Zero Pirelli tires and the dynamic steering, which is tuned very directly and thus ensures even more unerring handling.
With the newly tuned ABS software and the ceramic brake system, which is available on request for 7800 Swiss francs, the braking distance from 100 km/h is reduced by up to two meters. The sport differential also helps to increase the vehicle's agility. Even more than in the base model, this emphasizes the rear end. In addition, the transmission control unit has been revised - for shorter shift times and a greater spread between the individual driving modes.
Reduced insulation of the noise inside
Only for the Competition packages are there add-on parts such as the exterior mirrors, the front blade, the side flaps, the inserts of the sill extensions and the rear diffuser in matt carbon.
Common to both packages is the RS Sport Exhaust System Plus, which raises the soundscape to a new level. It is the sound that sports car nostalgics will sorely miss in the future. The reduced insulation between the engine compartment and interior, which saved eight kilograms of weight, also contributes to the interior noise.
Unified V6 biturbo engine produces 450 hp
The highlights of the newly tuned RS models naturally include the 2.9-liter V6 biturbo gasoline engine. It delivers a maximum torque of 600 Nm and generates 450 hp at 5700 to 6700 rpm. This enables the RS 4 Avant to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while the RS 5 coupe even manages it in 3.8 seconds.
Both on public roads and on the racetrack, it is noticeable that the newly tuned engine management system implements load changes even faster in Dynamic driving mode. This results in a more spontaneous response of the turbo engine.
Lowering by ten millimeters is possible
A convincing balancing act between comfort and high performance is also achieved by the RS Sport Suspension Pro, a manually adjustable coilover suspension that Audi has developed together with specialist supplier KW Automotive. This allows longer journeys to be covered with all available assistance systems and without any loss of comfort.
Additional lowering by ten millimeters is possible manually. In addition to the adjustable dampers, the RS-Pro suspension also includes the higher spring rate and stiffer stabilizer bars.
The Audi RS 4 Avant is available from 111,550 francs, the RS 5 Coupé from 114,900 francs and the RS 5 Sportback from 114,300 francs. The Competition packages cost 8650 francs (base) and 13,850 francs (plus).
