Audi: Q2 with borrowings from the original Audi Sport
Audi is going full throttle in all classes in 2016. The new Q2 crossover SUV plays the role of the dynamic city runabout. Prices start at 30,700 Swiss francs for the 1.0 TFSI with 116 hp, which will be available from December. Interesting variants are coming to the garages of the four rings one after the other. The Q2 will be available in [...].
The Q2 will initially be available in Switzerland with a choice of six engines, two turbocharged gasoline engines with direct injection (TFSI) and four turbocharged diesels with direct injection (TDI). The power range extends from 116 hp to 190 hp. The displacement varies between one and two liters. The most powerful engines in each case are also offered with quattro all-wheel drive. The 6-speed transmission impresses with short gearshifts and smooth operation. But those who want can also leave the work to a dual-clutch gearbox (DSG). And according to this plan, Audi wants the Q2 to roll into Switzerland: November 1.6 TDI with 116 hp from 32 100 francs, 1.4 TFSI with 150 hp from 33 300 francs, 2.0 TDI quattro S tronic with 190 hp from 42 900 francs, December 2.0 TDI front-wheel drive S tronic with 150 hp from 38 600 francs and 2.0 TDI quattro S tronic from 41 100 francs. A 2.9 TFSI with 190 hp will follow in early 2017.
The virtual cockpit is available in the Audi Q2 at a surcharge
The first contact with the Audi Q2 brings back memories. The reason: In addition to the "Quattro cheeks," you also recognize other borrowings from Audi Sport, the original Quattro. Especially when you approach the car from diagonally behind, you recognize the wide cheeks and the angular tornado line that enclose them. With many variants and personally selectable accents, the Q2 can be adapted to one's own taste to a much greater degree than its bigger brothers. So it's not surprising that the virtual cockpit is also on the surcharge list. Every Q2 is equipped with "Audi connect SIM" and a data flat rate as standard.
With three cylinders, the Ingolstadt car is a city weasel
And this is a real surprise: The smallest gasoline engine is the three-cylinder 1.0 TFSI with 116 hp. It impressed us in the Q2 not only with its typical growl and quiet, smooth running. Thanks to lightweight construction, the Q2 weighs barely more than 1200 kilograms. The driver feels this in every corner and during every acceleration. The, pardon the pun, engine is more to the point when accelerating than you would expect from 116 hp today. Progressive steering and smooth shifting make the Q2 an unusually agile car, where not even the SUV-typical high center of gravity can spoil the fun of cornering. It doesn't really need more car than that.
