Volvo: Three anniversaries and a wild boar đ„
WHERE TO MEET IG Swiss Volvo invites you to Burgdorf for this year's season finale of the Swiss Volvo scene. For the first time, the vehicle collection of the Swiss Army Historical Material Foundation will be on display.
In the video you will learn more about the history of the TP21 and experience how it drives.
The foundation maintains over 500 historic vehicles and carriages on behalf of the federal government in several halls on the grounds of the military operations. Among them is the TP21, which insiders also called "the steel wild boar" because of its diverse off-road characteristics.
At the same time, lovers of Swedish automobiles may celebrate the birthdays of three important models in Burgdorf.
Image transformation of the brand into a premium manufacturer
The Volvo 850 was launched 30 years ago. Front-wheel drive, plenty of power and numerous innovations characterized the model series and brought about a change in the brand's image to that of a premium manufacturer.
The second anniversary is the 40th anniversary of the Volvo 240 Turbo. The powerful top version of the legendary and important for Volvo series 240 was built between 1981 and 1985 both as a sedan and as a popular station wagon.
5.2 million kilometers with the P1800 S Coupé
The Volvo P1800 was launched as a coupe 60 years ago. An integral part of the history of the Swedish sports coupé is the red Volvo 1800 S, which the US American Irv Gordon acquired in 1966. He covered an incredible 5.2 million kilometers with it until his death in 2018. This all-time record was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2013.
The Volvo Autumn Meeting in Burgdorf, on the grounds of the military operations, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 17. Admission costs five francs per car and the valid Covid regulations of the Confederation apply.
A Covid certificate is required for entry into the exhibit halls.
