Saurer: Anniversary meeting at the Sursee campus
The next big Saurer get-together is coming up: on August 27, 2016, Saurer fans will meet on the campus in Sursee. At the 30th anniversary party, things are set to get really rowdy. What started small and had to look for new locations now and then seems to have arrived at the port: Campus Sursee, centrally located in Switzerland. The field of the master builders' association again shows itself very hospitable. Campus director Daniel Suter: "We love machines and commercial vehicles steeped in history, especially since no construction is possible without trucks." Organizer Ruedi Schmid: "We hope to gather well over 300 vehicles of the Swiss Saurer and Berna brands." Indeed, it is becoming increasingly difficult to bring roadworthy Swiss-built models to the site. The performance-based heavy vehicle tax with its malus for Euro 0 engines has caused many an old truck to go over the Jordan River. Or at least along the Danube in the direction of the Balkans, where some of them are still in use.
Revival of the Swiss industrial goods culture
Special attractions are to come for the 30th meeting: A flyover of the Patrouille Suisse from Lake Sempach is eagerly awaited. A crane simulator should delight the public. And of course, an army tank with a Saurer engine will once again be on display. In its own way, this meeting is intended to be a revival of Swiss industrial heritage. For the friends of roasted sausages, a special machine will also be used. Vehicle registrations please via the Saurer Club.
