Switzerland is mobilizing - but not for the real thing, fun is the order of the day. All signs point to Birmenstorf, where Switzerland's largest international military vintage car meeting will take place from August 12 to 14, 2016. An event for the whole (army-mad) family. Attractions: Various military history installations invite visitors to inspect. Teams from different countries recreate almost lifelike scenes.

For the seventh time the meeting with the significant name "Convoy to Remember" takes place. Founded in 1996 by a few enthusiasts, the fan meeting has become a veritable international event. The last edition in 2013 was attended by almost 25,000 visitors and over 500 vehicles were on display. In the video from 2013 we show you what to expect. The Convoy to Remember is held every three years and one of the undisputed highlights are the reenactor groups. The available sections on the site for these troops representing military history were immediately booked up, friends can feast their eyes on 19 different sets. Want a taste? Those who want to know what it was like on D-Day 1944 in the U.S. Airbone Camp will be surprised and the Dragoon Squadron of 1970 before their abolition is experiencing a revival.

Every 15 minutes there are attractions worth seeing
But even so, it won't be boring, from 6:15 a.m. on Friday, August 12, there will be action almost every quarter of an hour. On land and in the air, the Patrouille Suisse will fly in, there will be parachuting demonstrations. A Stintson, a US aerobatic plane, will show its skills. Music will also be playing, of course. On Friday evening, the "History Swingers Big Band" will heat things up, on Saturday evening, the "Münchner Zwietracht" will give a hearty performance, and after both events, you can turn night into day with DJ Xandl from Ischgl. Big and small boys will surely have the most wonderful fun with the tank demonstrations of more than 30 tanks. And because enough flight lovers have been found who have joined the flyover and booked sightseeing flights, a Dakota C-47 will also come thundering over the grounds in low-level flight.

Unfortunately, a body of water is missing: D-Day feeling comes up at the sight of this old float. The floats travel through the canton in the parade.

The parade rolls through the Fricktal over 35 kilometers
The Convoy lives up to its name: At 10 a.m. on Saturday, the historic vehicles set off on a 35-kilometer round trip through the Fricktal and are expected back on the grounds around half past eleven. Admission: three-day pass 30 francs, children up to 16 years free, Friday and Saturday 10 francs each single admission, on Sunday it costs 20 francs per person. Plenty of snack stands will provide enough marching food throughout the long weekend. Tip: Order tickets online!
