Opel GT was first presented at the Frankfurt IAA in 1965. Three years later, the design, which was celebrated by the public, went into series production. At the time, the possible introduction of a GT sports car by Opel caused as much astonishment as it did enthusiasm, because a sports car did not correspond to the previously staid brand image of the Rüsselsheim-based automaker.
The Opel Corsa GSi was launched exactly 30 years ago. The small car, which weighed 820 kilograms, had 100 hp and could reach a speed of 188 km/h.
