Christian Jenny and Urs P. Ramseier had put together an extensive program that also revolved around questions of originality and ownership of vintage vehicles.
Different consideration
The other topics were discussed from different angles, namely from the point of view of the authorities, cultural preservationists, owners and restorers.
Not everyone may like everything that was proposed, but the different perspectives of the speakers and panelists (including Georg Dönni, Felix Aschwanden, Maja Guetg and Christian Ackermann) were interesting in any case.
Individual vehicle ownership
Christian Jenny and Urs P. Ramseier illustrated the topics of paradigm shift and cultural change, after which Professor Günther Schuh took the stage. The expert is known from his local transport vehicle e.Go Life, an electric car with characteristics of an SUV at a favorable price, but also from the e.Go Mover, a compromise between cab and bus (keyword "On Demand Shuttle Operation").
Günther Schuh presented himself as a man with gasoline in his blood. He immediately knew how to inspire the audience with his ideas. He voted for individual vehicle ownership and the right means of transport for the right task.
Technology establishes itself too slowly
Professor Walter Brenner, who had already spoken about autonomous driving two years ago, provided information about the current status. In a review of these two years, he had to admit that the technology was establishing itself more slowly than expected.
Prof. Walter Brenner: "But that's more down to the people than the machines."
Swiss local transport with hydrogen
Daniel Hofer of Avenergy, the former petroleum association, then focused more on operating fuels and the CO2 issue in his presentation. He presented a hydrogen project in Switzerland, which involves the use of 1000 trucks in local transport with hydrogen fuel cells.
The closing speaker was then Anton Piëch, who had already reported on his sports car a year ago. In the meantime, the Mark Zero made a successful appearance at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and the first uncamouflaged versions already seem to be on the road.
