Classic cars: More space for the Saurer Museum

There is joy on Lake Constance: what was still a dream in 2013 has become reality with the signing of the contract at the land registry. The Saurer Museum has taken over the press shop in Arbon. Original: the LED strips on the roof racks. Some vehicles are already in the hall. The current outdoor storage area in Biessenhofen still needs to be moved and cleared out.

On the Saurer Museum's wish list for years: a depot where vehicles and machines, as well as spare parts, can be organized and stored. Museum director Ruedi Baer: "These objects have been scattered around for years. Then a solution emerged overnight, so to speak. We were offered a historic hall in the former press shop on the site behind Arbon railroad station. The project was quickly outlined and the financial requirements determined. Then the fundraising phase began, because without a sufficient budget we would not have dared to sign the purchase contract for one million francs."

Opening is planned for the end of May next year
Over the winter months, the building will be completely overhauled and repaired without hiding its industrial character. Ruedi Baer: "We are already looking forward to being able to present our beautiful, partly restored and partly unrestored classic cars to the public behind the large arched windows. The depot will also be open to visitors." And when is the opening? If everything goes according to plan, at the end of May 2017.
