Klausen race: The pass calls for the Memorial
WHERE YOU MEET To mark the 100th anniversary of the international Klausen races, a live show of mobility with a richly stocked exhibition will take place on August 6 between Urnerboden and Klausenpasshöhe.
After five memorial Klausen races between 1993 and 2013 with pre-war vehicles, unfortunately no organizer has managed to organize a Klausen race for the 100th anniversary.
For this reason, the Diavolo Motor Classic Association has formed an organizing committee that will commemorate the legendary international hill climb with a memorial on Saturday, August 6.
Exhibition of many legendary classics
At the heart of the event is an exhibition limited to 600 vehicles on the Urnerboden. Vintage cars and motorcycles from 1910 to 1979 will be on display there. Around 400 of these vehicles will then take part in show drives according to age categories from Urnerboden up to the finish house around 13 kilometers away below the top of the pass.
Pacecars with electric or hybrid drive also demonstrate the future of mobility in front of each category and in exhibitions.
Winning cars of the 1920s and 1930s
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the road between Urnerboden and the Klausen Pass will be closed to private traffic. The route will become a mobile museum for a few hours. In addition to some winning cars of the Klausen races of the 1920s and 1930s and other prestigious vintage cars, Grand Prix racing cars and motorcycles can be marveled at in a special exhibition; among others Michael Schuhmacher's Ferrari from 1999 and Ayrton Senna's Lotus JPS from 1987.
Exhibitor places for classic cars are available online
Anyone who is hungry or thirsty can get something to eat in restaurants, alpine inns, at food stands or in the large festival tent in the village of Urnerboden. The show rides up the pass are sold out, but you can still secure a vintage car exhibitor space or a visitor parking space on Urnerboden or the Klausen Pass online.
