The trailer for the Kerenzerbergrennen from June 12 to 14, 2020 gives an impression of the course and the surroundings.

From 1967 to 1970, the Kerenzerberg race was a Swiss Automobile Championship round popular with drivers and the public. Before that, it was a section race of the ACS Glarus three times in the period from 1959 to 1966. The unforgettable Silvio Moser with the Bellasi F1 went down in Swiss motorsport history as the last day's winner.

Peter Sauber's one-two punch at the 1970 race
Peter Sauber also wrote a chapter back then. With his first real in-house design, the Sauber C1, the then 26-year-old Zurich native won the sports car class up to one liter displacement for the second time that season. Sauber thus secured the championship title in this category in 1970. In the same year, he founded PP Sauber AG in Hinwil.

50 years ago, Peter Sauber was at the start in Mollis with his C1. He won an exciting duel with his C1 customer Bruno Wernli, who started after him (Photos: Archive Franz Leupi).

Four years later, after his last races with the C3, Peter Sauber retired as a driver. He then concentrated on building other sports cars with even greater success.

To mark the 50th anniversary, Sauber will once again be taking to the track in the freshly overhauled C1, starting at the Kerenzer as in 1970. Other Sauber sports cars will follow him in the fast-paced demonstrations of all the racing fields (it is no longer a question of best time) - a treat for the spectators, that is already certain.

Motorcycles for the first time
In addition to the 200 historic cars, 50 motorcycles are now also eligible to start. The registration period runs until February 14. It is already certain that historic Formula 1 racing cars will also be on the grid.

The organizing committee from the 2017 founded association Kerenzerbergrennen under the leadership of Peter Rufibach and the race management from ACS Mitte are responsible for the preparation and execution of the third new edition. It is to be further improved in some points.

Thus, the paddock is located on the south side of the Netstal Maschinen AG site in NĂ€fels (Krauss Maffei HighPerformance AG). The site will already be made available from Thursday.

Furthermore, the VIP tent will be expanded. The tent, which can accommodate 300 people, will be optimized with a grandstand, which will significantly improve the view of the race track.

Start like 50 years ago
The start is true to the original at the Waid restaurant in Mollis. The course length measures 3.17 kilometers with four hairpin turns and fast passages with long sweeping curves. These were already a challenge for man and machine in the old days!

Further comprehensive information, which is continuously supplemented, is available on the specially set up homepage.

Silvio Moser was the last day's winner with the Bellasi-Ford F1, before 45 years of no best time driving at Kerenzer.
