The "60 Collection" pairs each consist of an E-Type Coupé in Flat Out Grey and a Roadster in Drop Everything Green. Both make reference to two test vehicles that played a role in the world premiere at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show.
At full throttle from Coventry to Geneva
The first model was a fixed-head coupé with the police registration number 9600 HP in Opalescent Gunmetal Grey. It was only the night before the presentation to selected guests scheduled for the Parc des Eaux Vives in Geneva that the PR manager at the time, Bob Berry, had driven the car "at full throttle" from Coventry to Geneva. He arrived at Lac Léman just a few minutes before the first demo drives began.
Unexpected rush for test drives
Because the rush was so great for the test drives conducted alongside Berry, Jaguar test driver and development engineer Norman Dewis was instructed by company boss Sir William Lyons to "drop everything" and set off for Switzerland as quickly as possible with another E-Type from the Browns Lane plant in Coventry.
Fast transfer through France
On hand was a 3.8-liter roadster in British Racing Green and with the license plate 77 RW - and Norman Dewis also managed to arrive in Geneva on time. He arrived there after a speedy drive over French country roads and Alpine passes and eleven hours with an average of 111 km/h. That remains a piece of company legend to this day.
Top speed of 240 km/h
As well as being driven on a closed-off mountain track near Geneva, both vehicles were later used for tests by specialist magazines. They confirmed the car's performance - including its top speed of 240 km/h.
Accessories reminiscent of Swiss premiere
Each pair - which can only be ordered together - consists of a coupe modeled on the 9600 HP in Flat Out Grey and a roadster paying homage to 77 RW in Drop Everything Green. In addition, each example will receive a number of details inside and out reminiscent of the Geneva debut. Prices and equipment are available on request,
