On May 2, 1947, the chassis with the number 611056 arrived in Switzerland by train from the British Jaguar factory. Before it was transferred to the Emil Frey company in Zurich, it made a stop at Carrosserie Langenthal, a specialist in customized coachwork. This manufactory was known for building perfectly shaped convertibles.
First approval on March 12, 1948
This is how the captivatingly beautiful Jaguar convertible based on the Mk IV came into being. On March 12, 1948, it was registered by the Road Traffic Office. The proud owner, Maria Wacker from Pfäffikon, drove the convertible, which was powered by a powerful 3.5-liter six-cylinder in-line engine, until December 4, 1955, as reported by the Swiss Car Register. After that, all traces were lost.
Gentle reprocessing by professionals
The car arrived at the Emil Frey Classics AG workshop in Safenwil in September 2015 in a pretty desolate condition. The new owner wanted the classic car restored to its original condition. The engine and brake system were completely overhauled by professionals, the body was painted black and the lights were freshly chromed.
The metal frame of the soft top was still intact and could be reupholstered. The badly damaged red leather of the seats was replaced with new beige leather upholstery, and every instrument on the dashboard was removed, cleaned and repaired. After more than 2100 hours of work, the convertible was running like it did on the first day in 1948.
