With their video, our colleagues from TÖFF magazine want to whet your appetite for a visit to this unique event in the heart of Zurich. Thanks to the midsummer weather, nothing stands in the way of the "Indianapolis Oerlikon", which will be held for the 17th time on Tuesday, July 23.
From 16 to 22 pm
Already at 4 p.m. the gates of the racecourse Oerlikon open for the public. Last year, more than 5200 spectators were counted.
Inside, more than 60 beautiful vintage cars of the categories racing and sports cars, racing cars Monoposto, Indy cars, numerous motorcycles and sidecars with year of construction from the 20s to the 70s will present themselves. For the driving demonstrations they will be divided into nine small groups. Each field will do a few jagged laps in the evening in three blocks (from 6 p.m., from 7.25 p.m. and from 8.25 p.m.). In between, the cyclists will have great fights.
The granddaughter of Ettore Bugatti comes
The guest of honor is Caroline Bugatti (50). Her grandfather Ettore Bugatti once founded the company that has long since become one of the legendary automobile manufacturers. Today, the 50-year-old Frenchwoman is the "Directrice d'exploitation" of the Anneau du Rhin in Alsace, where many Swiss in particular like to do their rounds. In keeping with her status, she will be coming to Zurich in a Bugatti Type 43 from 1929, which she will drive around the oval course with starting number 50.
Other personalities who have confirmed their participation include motorcycle racer Randy Krummenacher with a historic Yamaha YZ600 and former Swiss mountain king Fredy Amweg in his Amweg BMW F2 homebuilt.

Experienced organizers
This unique event, which is known beyond the country's borders, has long since achieved cult status. The organizers are IGOR (IG Offene Radrennbahn) in cooperation with Georg and Jo Kaufmann and their Historic Racing Team. Georg Kaufmann himself is one of the special attractions with his Maserati 250 F.
The entrance fee (from 16 years) is 20 francs. Proceeds benefit the special safety measures and the preservation of the cycling track.
