On Wednesday evening, June 16, the Duke of Richmond and Gordon, the owner and operator of the huge site in southern England, personally announced the cancellation of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival Meeting 2020 in a letter.

Previously, both traditional events had been postponed indefinitely. Only the Members' Meeting, which is always held in spring, was considered to be canceled.

Spectators and participants from all over the world
However, the health situation in the UK and the measures imposed as a result will not allow such major events to take place for several more months. Both attract around 150,000 spectators to Goodwood, including many from Switzerland.

The participants in the unique show at Goodwood House in the form of a hill climb (Festival) and in the spectacular races in a nostalgic atmosphere on the Goodwood Motor Circuit (Revival) also come from all over the world.

Expensive care
The maintenance of the numerous historic buildings and the entire infrastructure devours millions every year. This year's income is minimal compared to that of the Meeting, Festival and Revival.

The three major events are only programmed again for 2021. Tickets remain valid or can be returned.

Revitalized patrons' association
To keep the spirit of Goodwood Motorsport alive in a financially difficult time, the Goodwood Supporters' Association is being revived. The GSA was founded 25 years ago by a group of enthusiasts to bring racing back to the Goodwood Motor Circuit.

This association is now open to new donors and patrons from all over the world. By making a contribution, they enable the continuation of motorsport at Goodwood. Depending on the level (£100, £200 or £500), there are special and personalized benefits in return. You can find out more at this direct link Link.

What else is going on and how to stay informed about everything from Goodwood in the form of a newsletter can also be found on the homepage.

Every year, the Festival of Speed at Goodwood offers a colorful cross-section of the past and present world of motorsport.
